Leslie Carter
"Wake up!" Leslie woke to her mom shaking her forcefully. "They’re coming! The monsters are coming!" Let’s just say that Leslie isn't the best person to talk to in the morning. "You mean monsters, like the energy drink?" She said groggily. "NO! GET UP NOW!" She stood up quickly as if someone had poured cold water on her. "What's wrong?" she asked while being shoved into her mom’s beat up rental car (the car is just old BTW). The car bolted out of the apartment lot. "Has anyone been following you lately? Or harassing you in any way?" she asked frantically. "Well, yeah. Two huge guys chased me home a couple of days last week. They called me weird names that made absolutely no sense. Like Demigod? What's that, a video game?" She saw a single tear roll down her mother’s face. Outside she saw the sun peaking over the horizon. She was so confused. Why would her mother drag her out of bed at 5 in the morning? Her mom usually won’t let her wear her PJs outside of the house in fear that it would "draw attention". She wouldn't even let her go out on the doorstep to pick up the mail on Saturday mornings. She sighed and turned to look out the window. She saw the sun rising slightly over a hill with a single pine on top. The place looked, calm, serene, like nothing could harm you there. She smiled and forgot about the fear in her mother's voice. Well, until a small explosion was heard in the distance. "Get out and run. Over the hill to safety. NOW!" She mom screamed, although there was a great amount on fear in her voice. She opened the door and was shocked at the sight outside. The two bullies had found her. They stood there, with scary grins on their faces. Was it just the tiredness, or did they just lick their lips? The heard the muffled shouting of her mother to run, but something told her to stay. She turned to her mother and motioned for her to go. Her mother rolled down the window. “I’ll contact you somehow!” And with that, the window was rolled up and the car drove out of sight. The bullies came closer, and she did the first thing that came to her mind. “Hey you big idiots!” she screamed. The fire in their eyes lightened in pure hatred. She glanced at the hill and saw something shiny stuck in the ground. She ran up with the bullies following closely behind. Once she reached the object, she saw it was a sword. Rusted with age, but not beyond repair. She grabbed it out of the hill side and turned to the “boys” but they looked no longer human. They had grown to twice their original size. She stepped forward with the sword pointing at them. “Oh come on now young Demigod. We will only eat you, but if we do, we will be saving you from devastation.” She shuttered at the words, but then she charged. Catching one by surprise, it turned to dust. She had no time to contemplate why. She turned to the other. I reached to grab her, but she easily avoided it. It grabbed for her many times, wearing her out, soon she was panting hard. She slowed, big mistake. It grabbed her and pulled her up. She struggled, but she was so tired. The thing started to walk away with her in its grasp. With no strength she stopped. She nearly gave up, but then the monster fell. Leslie saw an sword and stabbed it through the monster’s belly. It fell causing her to hit the ground hard. And she blacked out.

Leslie~
ReplyDeleteShe woke to voices talking nervously. Even without opening her eyes, she knew it was High Tide. I mean noon! “Is her mom going to be ok?” one voice asked. “Perhaps. The paramedics found her this morning. She was alive, but just barely.” A deeper voice replied. Who were they talking about? Surely not my mother. I was planning on listening in for a while, but then, I coughed and opened my eyes. I found there to be a girl and an old man in a wheel chair. The girl looked about my age, 14. “Ah, I see you are finally awake.” The man spoke slowly but firmly, yet not harshly. "Yeah." She said shyly. The other girl laughed lightly. "Not much of a talker are you?" She asked Leslie. "Oh God no. I talk a lot!" the man chuckled and the girl laughed again. "The correct term is 'Oh Gods'" I looked at him confused. "April, please take Leslie on a tour and explain things." She nodded. "Yes Chiron."
April~
ReplyDeleteIt was around midnight when April had found the girl on half blood hill. Late at night she couldn't get to sleep and took a walk starting to head towards Thalia's pine tree. That's when April found the girl, a half blood unconscious right next to Thalia's pine. Quickly April dragged the girl inside the borders and ran to get Chiron. Now it was midday and April was giving the half blood a tour and some info on Camp half blood. She lead the girl outside and started a conversation. "Hi," April said softly "I'm April Summers, I would say my godly parent but they haven't claimed me yet... Well anyway what's tour name?" she just sort of let the words slip out of her mouth. Then she got a puzzled look from the girl. "Whoops...." April thought.
Leslie~
ReplyDelete"Um...Pardon me? Did you say godly?" What is wrong with this girl? There is only one god. Well there is only supposed to be one god.
April could tell the girls confusion she was confused when Chiron first explained it to her. "Well I don't know how to tell you this but, you're a demigod. Half human half Greek god. You probably never knew one of your parents that's because they're immortal. The gods still exist, they never die. Immortal means immortal. One of the Greek god's favorite pass times I guess you can say is falling in love with mortals and that's where we come in." The girl was shocked. April went on to explain more. "All those Greek legends are true everything did happen." April finished. The other girl looked like she might pass out again so April changed the subject. "Chiron will explain better later but for now I'll show yup where you'll be staying." April said and took the girl by her head and steered her towards cabin 11.
ReplyDelete"This place feel so, welcome. So, used, in a good way." She smiled when the two entered cabin 11. She saw another bag on the floor. On the bag, there was 'April' written in marker. Leslie walked from the front to the back looking for a bunk. Once she found one, she sat down and started swinging her legs over the edge. Leslie smiled to herself, she finally had a friend.
ReplyDeleteApril smiled back and sat down on her bunk across from the girl. "Yeah cabin 11 is the cabin for unclaimed half bloods and children of Hermes." April glanced down but looked back up. "I know you might be tired from last night's arrival, I can wake you up when it's time for dinner or," April paused for a moment "We can finish the tour." she looked back to the girl who was pondering April's question. "By the way," April interrupted her in mid thought "Whats your name?"
ReplyDelete"I'm Leslie Carter. I'm going to rest for a bit. I feel kinda light headed. Plus I'm pretty sure my head is slightly damadged. See you around April!" Leslie took off her muddy shoes and laid down on the bed. The bed wasn't too hard, or too soft. Just not as homie as the rest of the cabin feels. Once her thoughts settled she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
ReplyDeleteHer dream felt so vivid, so real. She saw her mom in the hospital. She was surrounded by doctors. Her heart monitor was beeping at a rapid pace. Everyone looked so scared. Through the window I saw many of my moms relatives looking in with puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. Then nothing, she was dead. I glanced at the corner of the room and saw a misty figure of an older lady in a rocking chair. I her hand, she held a brown string, broken in two pecies.
April nodded and left Leslie to her sleep. Just as she left the cabin April realized she probably should've warned Leslie about Demi god dreams. "Too late..." She thought gloomily. Hopefully Leslie's dream wouldn't be that bad.....
ReplyDeleteLeslie woke to the sound of her own sceaming and crying. Her dream couldn't have been true, right? Her mother was probably at home making cookies (probably burning them). Leslie got up and whiped away the remaining tears. She walked to the door and opened it. Outside she saw much more than what she had seen the first time. There were many cabins circling around statues and a big bon fire. She smiled slightly at the thought of many people around the fire talking happily. The kind of family that were always around when you needed them, friends.
